Bryan Adams Concert Review: Getting Re-acquainted

As we so often discover, we go our separate ways and  lose touch with those that we were once close to. Five years, ten years, sometimes decades go by until our paths cross again. Such was the case at the Bryan Adams concert at the Minneapolis State Theater last Thursday night.

Loved his tunes in the 80's but then lost touch with his music a few years after graduating college. Reckless was the last album back in '84 that I best recall. That along with the Cuts Like a Knife in '80 had great hits such as Cuts Like a Knife, Straight From the Heart, Heaven and Summer of 69.  Little did I know that he's released 11 albums after that and a bit of a maniac following internationally. Music isn't Adams' only passion, he's become an accomplished  photographer too, his works appearing in Vogue,Harper's BAZAAR, Esquireand Interviewamong others. His current Editor in Large for Zoomer Magazine;

He played hits from days gone by and several more as part of his Bare Bones tour, just him, an acoustic guitar and a piano, played by Gary Breit.

With two seats left vacant in the front row, Adams called out to the balcony and picked two fans to come down and sit for the last third of the show.  Not to anyones surprise a few other fans took advantage, but alas, security escorted them away so the two lucky audience members could sit and enjoy the rest of the performance.

A smaller venue provides such a greater experience as it allows the audience to be part of the show, whether calling out requests or actually hearing the artist chat, laugh and tease the audience, oh and sing too on a more personal level - friends getting together for a little reminiscing, sharing memories and learning what's new.

If you don't get a chance to see his show, pick up his Bare BonesTour CD, it's memorable!
